Purple Barbie

As my husband walked through a local restaurant to deliver the cake to the birthday party, the patrons commented on how real Barbie's dress looked. But the most important reaction came from the six-year-old girl for whom this cake was made. When she saw the cake, her eyes grew wide and her face filled up with a smile! She said, "She's so beautiful!" The birthday girls and her friends began to examine her hair and her jewels...the joys of being a little girl! Although the jewels were not edible, they really added to the beauty of the design. This cake was modeled after Pegasus Barbie and was made of chocolate icing and cake. Yum!

Carnations and Birds

To celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday in November, I created this surprise cake full of her favorite things. Decorated with fondant birds and fondant red carnations, her cake was chocolate, vanilla and almond flavored with chocolate and buttercream icing. I really liked the vine design as well. The family surprised her by ringing her doorbell with cake and presents in hand!
