Fire! Fire! Fire!

My youngest son turned 2 this weekend. He LOVES fire dogs, fire trucks, and firemen...as well as Gold Bug (from the children's book author Richard Scarry -- can you find him?). This vanilla cake was covered in buttercream and fondant. I created the firefighter, the fire dogs, the hydrants, and the hose from fondant and then covered the rice krispie fire truck with fondant as well. My son loved this cake! He tried everything on this cake...he liked the fire hydrant best! My husband and I agree that the cake is our new favorite.

Band 2010

I created this chocolate and vanilla cake covered in buttercream to honor the Senior members of the Wake-Forest Rolesville HS Band. The decorations are made of fondant.

Chicken!

I created this surprise chicken cake for our neighbor's 13th birthday. She loved it! This vanilla chicken was covered with buttercream icing and lots of fondant...she loves fondant more than my little man!

A Pirate's Life for Me!

To celebrate a little man's 5th birthday, I created a pirate ship. This vanilla cake was covered in buttercream and dark chocolate fondant. The details are what make this cake. My husband likes the ropes but the family favorite is the pirate. I have made figures in the past (Mario, Minnie, Yoda), but this was my first attempt at a person. I am really proud of how this pirate turned out! And the expression on the little man's face was pure joy...the very reason I love to create cakes!

Rock Star

This lemon guitar cake was created to celebrate a young man's 2nd birthday. My husband and I had the most fun decorating this one! Typically he bakes and I create, but because he knows more about guitars, my husband served as my design consultant. Our boys thought the guitar was real! Our oldest has asked me several times if I bought a guitar and tried to tell him it was a cake!

Another Wedding Tasting

This tasting included almond, chocolate, and red velvet cakes. The bride and groom chose almond and chocolate flavors covered with buttercream and fondant. Their wedding is in September. I am very excited about making the groom's cake as well...a Dodge Charger!
